The growing range of our SynSelect™ Functional Products consists of a series of reagents and building blocks developed to provide a high quality, economical source of mission critical chemistry for the manufacture of pharmaceutical intermediates and APIs: SynSelect™ Functional Products (Table 1) are based on Archimica's core technological competencies, delivering a broad range of desirable functionalizations and structural elements. They have been developed to meet the needs of the large-scale manufacturing environment. Many of them have been developed in Archimica’s own efforts to manufacture intermediates and APIs – and have not been commercially available before.

Reagents for the commercial scale
Archimica offers an expanding range of reagents that can smooth synthesis operations and deliver superior performance. These include materials for use in safe, efficient phosphorylations, mild reductions, versatile iodinations, C-C and other couplings, cyclopropanations, ring expansions and more.

   

Focus on iodo reagents
Today, Archimica offers a broad spectrum of iodo-based reagents that can provide effective synthesis solutions at the commercial scale in a broad range of reaction types. These include chloroiodomethane, a useful reagent for cyclopropanation of alkenes according to Simmons-Smith and for the methylenation of allylic alcohols. It is also useful for converting esters to chloromethylketones and enabling reactions with electrophiles to its carbon atom. Diiodomethane is widely used as a reagent for cyclopropanation of alkenes according to Simmons-Smith as well as enantioselective cyclopropanation. It is also useful in ring expansion of cyclic ketones, for introducing methylene bridges, and for the ortho-methylation of phenols. Iodine monochloride pyridine complex is a very mild and efficient electrophilic iodinating agent for a wide range of aromatic, heterocyclic and aliphatic compounds. More powerful than iodine itself, the pyridine complex makes iodine monochloride safe to handle and to transport.
